SMNPPA Print Competition

 The Southern Minnesota PPA Print Competition is an excellent opportunity for their members to achieve awards and learn how to improve their imaging skills. Non-Members can not receive any awards, but will learn from the judges about how they will be able to improve their skills as well. It is an excellent opportunity to discuss imaging and network.

The 2019 SMNPPA PRINT COMPETITION is just over 3 months away and we can't wait to see you there. Mark your calendars...start looking over your images...take some new ones if you want to...whatever it takes. Just make plans to join us. You'll be glad you did.

SMNPPA’s Print competition is happening at our November meeting…So, here are the basics:


A print maybe of any size, configuration within these limits: the image must have 80 square inches (i.e. 8”x10”), the longest dimension is 24 inches, mounted on a type of mount board that will not damage another entry on or below itself. NO two images may be entered of the same scenic, model, person(s), pet, no exceptions. If this should occur, the entry will receive a score and a ribbon, but is disqualified a Judges Choice Rosette or other awards.

Only SMNPPA Members are eligible for Awards.

Number of Images

A total of four (4) images, prints or albums are allowed. An album entry is considered as one of the four print case totals for each entrant.

Print Titles

Every entry must be titled, displayed on the back of the entry, at the top of the orientation of the image being vertical, horizontal or square. This includes an album entry. (see link to the Print Entry From above).


Are acceptable, wedding or non-wedding, any dimension and quantity of images, except the PPA standards should prevail concerning these rules. There may be one or two image makers and if such, between these two makers, each would receive a ribbon however the main image maker would receive the Judges Choice Rosette, if awarded. This album entry is considered as one of the four print case totals for each entrant and the score can be used for consideration of the top photographer, in either category.

Print Cases

PPA rules for print cases will be forgiven; any type of container may be used to bring the images into the SMNPPA Print competition.
